Artist's Comments

I've gotten several requests to do a tutorial, so I did one for my latest piece in Photoshop CS2.

Yes, I really am that generous!

Oh, and I don't pretend to know everything. In fact, a lot of stuff in this one could be done better, but no nitpicking 'kay? ;)

This is nice is how it shows steps, but it doesn't really teach much, I'm sorry to say :( You don't show what brushes you use, what settings you use them on (most particularly, opacity and flow) and showing HOW you lay on highlights and shadows, what colors you chose for each and why --- /that/ would do some teaching ;)

Right now, this is just pretty WIP steps.

To be fair, it shows pretty much every brush I used if you include the usual round one. :) I don't use that many, really. But yeah, I get your point. This was never meant to be a tutorial that extensive however. I show my steps and then people get the pleasure of finding out the rest on their own. (That's code for "I'm a lazy bastard who doesn't want to spend more than an afternoon on a tutorial, so you people go bother someone else". ;))

I faved for the result XD
Because as Nerahla said, it only shows the steps, not really the way to paint^^

But it's really awesome to see :D
Good job, but give us more steps^^

Well, it just amounts to being rather frustrating and irritating rather than informative ya know, but hey, whatever floats it for ya ;)

Holy shit! I'm always amazed at the immense talents that digital artists have. I really want to learn how to paint like that.

Any particular hardware I need like a tablet or something? Or can I just do it with a mouse, some prayer, and a steady hand?

Lovely walkthrough/tutorial. Always interesting to see how others works.

For one of the final steps do you use adjustments layers to change colors/depth etc or do you paint everything? I'm just curious. Since joining dA i know that many people start with a grey "model" and work with colors and adjustment layers later :aww:
